EN Marni and Theatre Les Tanneurs are back with the 2016 edition of D Festival, so keep your diaries free from 31st May to 11th June. Ever eclectic, Marni and Theatre Les Tanneurs are joining forces to offer up a smorgasbord of contemporary dance projects here in Brussels. This year, the political dimension, of living art in general and dance in particular, is brought to the fore.
For some, taking one’s time and slowing down is a form of resistance in itself against the pace of the world (Rushing Stillness – Marielle Morales). For others, fixing the body at the centre of the creative process pushes those watching towards their own questions, their own mysteries, and their own relationship with the world (Isaac y Diola – Antia Diaz and German Jauregui) and with others, be they similar or different (Happy Hour – Mauro Paccagnella and Alessandro Bernardeschi).
Some of the performances question our current way of life in a very direct way, our patterns of consumption (Mas-Sacre – Maria Clara Villalobos, Pesadilla – Piergiorgio Milano), our links to difference or to the system in place (Wawara – Julie De Clercq), as well as to freedom and the constraints of the human condition (Laisse ! – Alexis Rouvre and Tiziano Lavoratornovi).
Brussels truly is a fertile land which draws in artists from around the globe ; through their myriad of living works they question the world and the human.
